** Club Constitution and By-Laws **

Thanks to a very fine effort by Mark K0EJ, we now have a TCG
Club Constitution and set of By-Laws. Mark put a lot of thought
and care into the document, and we are grateful for his efforts.
The constitution and by-laws should meet the requirements necessary
for TCG to participate as an official club entry in ARRL sponsored
competitions. (Final approval must come from ARRL, but the Group is
confident that TCG will meet the necessary requirements.) A copy of
the TCG Club Constitution and By-Laws has been posted to the reflector.
Please take the time to read it carefully if you have not already.

The constitution defines membership requirements, officers, meeting
schedules etc., and likely contains answers to many of the questions
members may have regarding the 'official' aspects of the Tennessee
Contest Group.

The Club Constitution and By-Laws were unanimously adopted by the
members present.

** Official Roster **

Basically, one joins TCG by showing up at a meeting and applying for
membership by signing the Roll Call sheet. Membership is maintained
by meeting the membership requirements as defined in the Club Constiution.
TCG Charter Membership has been hereby extended to those indivuduals who
made the effort to attend one of the two meetings held thus far in 1997.
The follwing roster denotes TCG Charter Members, and is also the current
TCG Official Roster. If you do not wish to be considered an 'official
member,' send email to K4RO and you will be removed from the Roster.

** Officer Elections **

The Constituion defines two (2) officer positions within TCG --
Facilitator and Executive Assistant (EA). Nomintaions were solicited,
and the following officers were unanimously elected by the members
present:
          Facilitator: Ric Painter WO4O

          Executive Assistant: Kirk Pickering K4RO

The duties of the officers is defined in the TCG Club Constitution.
Please give the officers as much support as you can. Realize that TCG
is only as strong as the member's participation and willingness do
help with the duties of the officers.

** TCG Email Reflector **

The TCG Email Reflector is up and running. Feedback has been positive
for the most part, and TCG'ers are making very good use of the email
reflector technology. The Membership voted to allow any interested
party to join the list, whether current TCG member or not. Maintaining
an 'open' list will allow non-members to see what we are up to and decide
if they might want to participate, as well as allow ARRL officials (such
as Contest Advisory Committee members) to participate in discussions.

To join the TCG Email List (a.k.a. reflector) send a message to

	k4ro@music-city.tdec.state.tn.us

and ask to be aded to the TCG Email Reflector. Anything sent to the
reflector address will automatically be sent (reflected) to everyone
on the list. The Reflector address is:

	tcg@music-city.tdec.state.tn.us

Please note that all addresses are in lower case only. Note also that
all invividuals must ask to sign up personally; no one will be added
at another's request, or by 'proxy.' The reflector is there for us
to exchange news, contest gossip, and to facilitate discussion on
whatever topics the group wishes to discuss. Use it and enjoy it!

** TCG QSL Cards **

Members decided to not pursue a standardized TCG QSL card at this time.
Feel free to incorporate "Tennessee Contest Group" into your own design
of QSL cards, badges, etc. Ric Wo4o offered to produce TCG name tags for
anyone who may be interested.

** NCJ Sprint Teams **

The phone section of the NCJ Sprint was held the day of the contest
(Feb 1.) TCG SSB Sprint team members were WB4TDB, W4PA, and KR4ND

The CW Sprint will be held Saturday night February 8 from 6 - 10PM
Central Standard Time. ( 0000-0359 Feb 9 UTC.) It looks as though
TCG will finally have a full 10-operator team for the CW Sprint!
(This may be a TCG first..)

Here are the current TCG CW Sprint team members:

K4AMC K0EJ K1KY K4NO K4RO K4UU N4ZZ W4PA WO4O W9WI

Alternate: WB4TDB Still waiting to hear from other past sprinters.
(How about it K4XG, N4CM, or any others?) Please send your plans to
participate in this weekend's CW Sprint to the TCG reflector ASAP.
K4RO will register the teams Friday evening, Feb 7. Try to indicate
if you plan a full-time effort, so that I can put the part-timers on
TCG team #2 (That is of course, if we get more than 10 intrested
operators.)

** Winners **

Congratulations to Don N4ZZ who achieved First Place in both the CW
and SSB portions of the August 1996 North American QSO Parties. See
this months (Jan/Feb) issue of the National Contest Journal for details.
That is quite an accomplishment Don!

** Next Meeting **

Date: Sat March 8 1997
Time: 9:30 AM
Place: Old Country Buffet restaurant
Agenda: We will show the CQ-Contest Video, and perhaps some others.
Feel free to bring anyone who might be interested in contesting!

All are welcome at the TCG monthly meetings.

(We are skipping March 1 as the ARRL CW DX contest occurs that weekend.)

73 and see you in the contests.
