TCG Meeting Minutes - July 6, 2002

The August meeting of the Tennessee Contest Group took place on 10 August
2002 at the Old Country Buffet at Hendersonville at 9 A.M. The following
members were present and accounted for:

NY4N Jeff
Wo4o Ric
K1KY Tom
N7DLS Dan
K0EJ Mark
WB9BSH Jerry
K4AMC Jim

The only official business presented to the Group was the option for ARRL
contests, the Group is being asked to vote to except the 150 mile diameter
circle, which has been the standard, or vote to except the new section wide
territorial district, in which all in the State of Tennessee can participate.

The pros and cons of the section option would eliminate our friends in
Kentucky and Alabama from participating, but would allow operators from the
corners of the State, like Memphis and Tri Cities area, to play. (A ballot
will be provided on the TCG reflector, per the new constitution.)

Other business, per K1KY, 90 dollars was sent to the NAQP for future
sponsors of plaques. Also, five dollars was added to start a new "kitty."

K1KY discussed changes at the Cathouse, including new antenna
installations.

Wo4o brought up the topic of full body harness for climbing towers,
comparisons made to regular tower climbing belts.

Particulars to be worked out between Jeff and Dan on going to the
Louisville hamfest and picking up the Kentucky QSO Party trophy on the 7th of
September. The TCG will get to keep the prize for one year. K1KY has offered
to let the plaque stay at the Cathouse while in Tennessee. The TCG won the
trophy by having the highest team score in the 2002 Kentucky QSO Party.

Discussions on a possible team or group that would be willing to activate
K4TCG during the 2002 Tennessee QSO Party in September. A couple of calls
were tossed around, nothing decided.

K0EJ talked about improvements at his station.

K1KY talked about a multi operation for the ARRL 160 Meter contest the
first full weekend of December. This will also coincide with the Skywarn
Appreciation Day at the National Weather Service in Nashville. Troops to be
rallied to help out with both projects.

Meeting ended around 11 A.M.
