Your 2007 MOST RADIO ACTIVE amateur was:

          KIRK PICKERING, K4RO

Kirk logged 26,499 QSOs for the Tennessee Contest Group
during 2007, and that was 9.8% of all TCG QSOs logged.
He operated in 56 contests for an average of 473.2 QSOs
per event. Wow! Great year Kirk!

The second place finish for 2007 was the always Radio
Active Don Binkley, N4ZZ. Don averaged 421.9 QSOs per
contest operated, logging 17,295 QSOs in 41 events.
That's 6.4% of the 2007 TCG total. Way to go Don.

And TCG's third Most Radio Active member 2007, making
his first appearance in our Top 3, was Ned Swartz, K1GU.
El Presidente 2007 cranked out 14,610 QSOs during 77
contests for an average of 189.7 QSOs per contest and a
5.4% share of the TCG QSO total. Great job Ned!

Once again, special recognition goes to Jeff Yeager,
K4JNY for being the 2007 TCG Most Host. In addition
to his individual contest efforts, Jeff contributed to
three contests during the year by allowing others to
operate the K4JNY station. Jeff has owned this title
for several years, but moved to 6-land during 2007. His
contribution to the Tennessee Contest Group will be
missed. Thank you Jeff, and thanks to everyone who
invited guests into your home for a contest during the
year. Here are the Host totals.

The Top 8 TCG contesters for 2007, roughly 10% of those
submitting a log during the year, logged 119,220 QSOs or 44%
of all TCG QSOs. These eight submitted 355 logs or 33% of
all TCG logs. The Top 20 TCG contestors of 2007 were
responsible for 80% of all QSOs logged by TCG. Moreover, 90%
of all Tennessee Contest Group QSOs were logged by the Top 29.

K4RO Kirk, N4ZZ Don, and K1GU Ned, the Top 3 TCG contesters
of 2007, logged 58,404 QSOs or 21.7% of all TCG QSOs while
submitting 174 logs, 16% of the total.

In all, TCG members submitted logs for 188 contests during
2007, up from 162 in 2006 and 144 in 2005.

The event with the most summaries submitted during 2007 was
the ARRL 160M CW contest with 32 logs. And once again, the
ARRL DX CW in February was our busiest contest with 18,199
QSOs logged (down from 21,557 in 2006).

Here are the Top 15 TCG contests of 2007:

The Top 10 contests for TCG accounted for 5.3% of the events
participated in by the members in 2007. The 130,880 QSOs
logged in those events accounted for 48.5% of all QSOs logged
by TCG in 2007, and the 241 logs submitted for these same ten
events amounted to 22.4% of all TCG logs submitted. Note: TCG
was one of two host stations (W1AW/4) for the July 2006 IARU
DX event so those numbers were omitted from the chart above.

The Top 15 contests for TCG accounted for 8% of the contests
entered by TCG members in 2007, while the 169,729 QSOs logged
and 341 logs submitted for those events accounted for 63% of
the total QSOs and 31.8% of the total logs submitted in 2007.
Note that three of the Top 15 TCG events were RTTY contests.
Our friend Larry W0ETC (silent key) would be pleased with that
I suspect.

TCG 2007 AT A GLANCE...

As seen in the chart below, January 2007 was our most productive
month with 44,959 QSOs in 127 logs. The month of June was our
least productive with only 43 logs and 3,351 QSOs. More logs
(130) were submitted for TCG in February than in any other month.
Note: Field Day scores are never included in the Radio Active
Report.

Despite being at the bottom of the sunspot cycle, the
Tennessee Contest Group continued to pound out QSOs in
2007. TCG posted 235 more logs in 2007 than in 2006 and
logged 55,973 more QSOs than in 2006. TCG also entered
more events in 2007 than in any of the last six years.

There you have it. Keep in mind these figures reflect numbers
posted by TCG members who operated in at least one qualifying
event during 2007. However, in-state Tennessee QSO Party
entrants with no log or contest summary posted to the TCG email
reflector tcg@k4ro.net are not represented in this report. Only
QSO numbers posted to the TCG email reflector, or emailed to
k4ko@charter.net due to being late, are included in this report.

Again, congratulations to Kirk, Don, Ned and the entire Tennessee
Contest Group for another outstanding and record-breaking year.
Good luck and logs in 2008.

Thanks for submitting your logs with TENNESSEE CONTEST GROUP
listed as your contest club.

Corrections to this report, the Final Radio Active Report of
2007, mean very little to its author, so unless you find a
glaring mistake that belongs to him, he probably does not want
to know about it. Just kidding. No seriously, he does not want
to know about it.

In 2008, post your contest summaries to: tcg@k4ro.net and don't
forget to submit your logs to the contest sponsors!
