The Top 10 TCG contesters for 2008, roughly 11% of those submitting a log during
the year, logged 135,851 QSOs or 52% of all TCG QSOs. These ten submitted 474
logs or 39% of all TCG logs. The Top 20 TCG contesters of 2008 were responsible
for 69% of all QSOs logged by TCG. Moreover, 92% of all Tennessee Contest Group
QSOs were logged by half of our current active roster.

N4ZZ Don, NA4K Joel and K4LTA Bill, the Top 3 TCG contesters of 2008, logged
52,288 QSOs or 20% of all TCG QSOs while submitting 125 logs, just over 10% of
the TCG total logs.

In all, TCG members submitted logs for 198 contests during 2008, an all-time
high, up from 188 in 2007 and 162 in 2006.

Two contests during the year each produced 31 log submissions, the ARRL 160M CW
contest in December and the IARU DX event in July. The ARRL 160M CW contest
also generated more QSOs than any other event in 2008.

The Top 10 contests for TCG during 2008 accounted for 5% of the events
participated in by the members. The 119,811 QSOs logged in those ten events
accounted for 45.8% of all contest QSOs logged by TCG during the year, and the
263 logs submitted for these same ten events amounted to 21.8% of all TCG logs
submitted. Note: TCG was one of two host stations (W1AW/4) for the July 2006
IARU DX event so those numbers were omitted from the chart above.

TCG 2008 AT A GLANCE...
=======================

As seen in the chart below, January was again our most productive month with
40,676 QSOs in 133 logs. And once again June was our least productive month
with just 52 logs and 4,427 QSOs. More logs (133) were submitted in January
than in any other month. Note: Field Day scores are not included in the Radio
Active Report.

Despite being at the worst bottom of the sunspot cycle since the Not-so-Great
Depression, the Tennessee Contest Group continued to pound out QSOs in 2008.
TCG posted 127 more logs in 2008 than in 2007 but logged 8,016 fewer QSOs. Like
many of us in 2008, TCG worked harder but made less than the year before. TCG
also entered more events during 2008 than in any of the last six years.

There you have it. Keep in mind these figures reflect numbers posted by TCG
members who operated in at least one qualifying event during 2008. However,
in-state Tennessee QSO Party entrants with no log or contest summary posted to
the TCG email reflector tcg@k4ro.net are not represented in this report. Only
QSO numbers posted to the TCG email reflector, or emailed to k4ko@charter.net
due to being late, are included in this report.

Again, congratulations to Don, Joel, Bill and the entire Tennessee Contest Group
for another outstanding and record-breaking year. Good luck and logs in 2009.

Thank you for submitting your logs with TENNESSEE CONTEST GROUP listed as your
contest club.

Corrections to this report, the Final Radio Active Report of 2008, again mean
very little to its author, so unless you find a glaring mistake that belongs to
him, he probably does not want to know about it.

In 2009, post your contest summaries to: tcg@k4ro.net and don't forget to
submit your logs to the contest sponsors!
